Research Interests

Program of research focuses on health promotion with a specific focus on developing knowledge about the relationships between eating patterns and weight in women. Long term goal is to use a theoretical basis for the development of effective, individualized interventions to achieve long-term weight loss, to prevent weight gain, and to improve nutritional intake. Currently focusing on the self-management of dietary intake using mindful eating in individuals with chronic kidney diseases. Improved adherence to dietary recommendations for individuals with chronic kidney disease may delay progression toward kidney failure and dialysis. Additionally, I am looking at relationships between mindful eating, other eating patterns (e.g., binge eating) and social media usage. I am also working on interprofessional education initiatives with the health care professions.
