Research Interests

Jennifer Glass is the Centennial Commission Professor of Liberal Arts in the Department of Sociology and Research Associate in the Population Research Center at the University of Texas, Austin. She researches work and family issues, gender stratification in the labor force, mother’s employment and mental health, and religious conservatism and women’s economic attainment. She is also interested in issues related to fertility and reproduction, including reproductive justice. She is currently engaged in (a) a longitudinal project to determine why women leave science and technology occupations earlier than men, and (b) an investigation of U.S. mother's breadwinning responsibilities following a first birth, and the pay and job conditions they face trying to meet their financial obligations.
