Academic Growth in Bilingual Middle Schoolers

The Church Lab is looking for bilingual Research Assistants in Spanish and English to assist with an ongoing neuroimaging study. This project involves middle school students who are enrolled in a reading intervention. This is a multisite collaboration between UT Austin and the University of Houston, and we are the Austin neuroimaging arm of the study.

Qualifications
  • Fluency (reading, written, spoken) in Spanish and English
  • Weekend availability
  • Dependable, punctual, and detail oriented
  • 10 hour per week commitment 
  • Comfortable working with children and families
Project Timeline

Subject recruitment will begin in late summer/early fall 2021 (August/September). Data collection will extend through late Spring 2022. RAs who are interested in staying in the lab past this date may cross-train for other ongoing research projects in the lab.

Duties
  • Subject recruitment and scheduling in Spanish (via phone and email)
  • Conduct informed consent procedures with families in Spanish
  • Preparation and administration of session running materials
  • Neuroimaging session running with children
  • Data entry procedures via Redcap

10 hours per week
