The Center for Excellence in Aging Services and Long-Term Care, located in the UT-Austin School of Nursing, is looking for volunteer research assistants to work on the Nursing Facility Quality Review (NFQR) study. The NFQR is a statewide study that examines quality of care for nursing facilities and assisted living facilities throughout the state of Texas; we will be studying over 400 facilities. This study is sponsored by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and is conducted ongoingly every two years. The study utilizes nurse data collectors and pharmacist data reviewers to collect and review data per study protocols. The study explores a large variety of quality indicators, including issues such as depression, antipsychotic use, falls, hospitalizations, pain management, etc. By gaining a better understanding of facilities’ care provision, we hope to improve the quality of the care and quality of life for vulnerable older adults living with serious chronic health conditions
