Assessing Generative AI Integration in the Design Process

Project Summary: This project is focused on building an understanding of when and how designers choose to utilize generative artificial intelligence as a tool for developing creative and useful designs. Undergraduate research assistants are needed to assist with collecting, processing, and analyzing data that may include surveys, sketches, open-ended responses, and more. Students will gain experience with a variety of mixed-methods experimental formats, and will be mentored by a graduate student researcher.

No experience required. 

Project Timeline

This is an ongoing project. Students who would like to get involved can start ASAP on a volunteer basis, or at the beginning of a semester (Spring/Summer 2025) for credit or pay.

Duties

Tasks for this project may include:

  • Data labelling and interrater agreement calculations for qualitative data
  • Piloting experimental protocols
  • Data entry and cleanup
  • Data analysis or visualization in R or Excel

Flexible, ~5 hours/week
Desired Length of Commitment
At least 1 semester
