Chimpanzee Body Size Photos

This project is ongoing.

Humans are unique in how we grow. Like other mammals, we grow rapidly after birth and then growth slows. We keep getting bigger, but less and less each year. During adolescence, however, humans exhibit a growth spurt, growing rapidly in height. Is this unique to humans?

Using photographs from wild chimpanzees, students will measure limb lengths using computer programs (e.g. ImageJ, Photoshop).
