Conserving Indigenous Memories of Land Privatization in Mexico: Michoacan's Libros de Hijuelas, 1719-1929

This project is ongoing.

Two-year British Library-funded digitization project involving Mexican undergraduate trainees to preserve post-archival access to records of indigenous community land records in Michoacan state, Mexico (completed, 2016-2018). Analysis of the process of indigenous land privatization in Mexico and its impact on indigenous identity and practice, with GIS analysis (ongoing). Will result in international virtual conference in May 2021 and publication of edited volume subsequently.

Qualifications

Spanish language skills. Writing skills. Willingness to perform archival work.
