COVID lung imaging repository project

We are collaborating with the Radiological Society of North America to contribute to a national database of COVID patient imaging to be used for machine learning and artificial intelligence development. 

The Medical Imaging and Data Resource Center (MIDRC), funded through the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) under the National Institutes of Health (NIH) special emergency COVID-19 process, is an open-access platform for COVID-19- related medical images and associated data.

We will be collecting lung imaging data along with clinical information from patients presenting to Dell Medical Center during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Qualifications

Strong programming skills, (Python, R, C++, or Java)

Experience or coursework in image processing

Interest in medical imaging or big data

Project Timeline

This project can begin immediately and will end April 30, 2023, but potential to remain in lab and take on other medical imaging projects exists

Duties

Imaging data organization and QA

Image de-identification using established processing pipelines/software 

Statistical analysis

Student will be included in manuscript preparation

Potential for compensation exists
