Data mining for maximizing comfort and energy savings on campus

This project is closed.

We have developed an mobile app in Swift for IOS to get student feedback about thermal comfort in the buildings on campus. We are collaborating with the Facilities Operations & Maintenance division of UT to collect the student feedback and provide them with useful information so they can improve student comfort on campus while reducing the energy consumption. Ideally, the data will be displayed on an online dashboard. Machine learning techniques will be implemented in order to find relations among diverse factors related to thermal comfort, such us outdoor and indoor temperature, physical characteristics of the students, or clothing. On a second stage of the project, new temperature setpoints will be implemented in the target buildings, and additional student feedback will be collected. This project will result in at least one publication on a scientific journal.
