Undergraduate Research Assistant Opportunity

Prof. William Fuchs (Finance) and Prof. Magdalena Bennett (IROM) are seeking an Undergraduate Research Assistant to support our project, which explores how microcredit can best support vulnerable entrepreneurs in Latin America. In collaboration with the BBVA Microfinance Foundation, our study identifies key success factors for micro-entrepreneurs and designs interventions, including financial training, role model storytelling, and loan structure adjustments. This research is being conducted as a randomized controlled trial (RCT) across four countriesColombia, Panama, Peru, and the Dominican Republic—to rigorously evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions. By randomly assigning participants to different treatment groups, we aim to isolate the impact of each intervention and understand how they interact, providing robust evidence to inform financial lending policies and improve entrepreneurial outcomes in diverse contexts.

Role Overview:
The RA will assist in reviewing and compiling training materials aimed at improving financial and business skills among micro-entrepreneurs. This involves sourcing, organizing, and refining content for intervention delivery via WhatsApp-based training modules.
