Language and Cognitive Development

This project is ongoing.

l'Austin Thought Lab, located in the Children's Research Center in SEA, studies how children acquire abstract concepts like time and number, and how language, perception, and culture interface during cognitive development. We're seeking motivated Research Assistants who are excited about cognitive and developmental science. You must be comfortable running behavioral experiments with young children and interfacing with families and teachers! Child studies are run both in the lab and off-site in preschools and museums, so having personal transportation is a plus. RAs will also read scientific papers and attend weekly lab meetings.

Qualifications

Experience with children, strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, fluency w/ Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets. Bilingualism, programming skills, and prior research experience are all pluses!

Duties

Running experiments with 2- to 7-year-old children in lab and off-site, data entry, attending weekly lab meetings, creating stimuli, recruiting families by phone/email, etc.
