Libraries and mental health

This project is ongoing.

This project examines public and academic libraries as information and community hubs to provide mental health support to young adults. At this stage, we plan to review existing news articles, library newsletters, and journal articles reporting mental health-related programs and services that public and academic libraries provide to patrons. The review will provide an overview of how libraries support community mental health needs and serve as a springboard for us to explore the potential of libraries to support young adults in seeking help for their mental health challenges. Students who participate in this research stage can choose to get involved in the project's next phase, wherein we will interview young adults about their needs for help-seeking support from community resources.
