Meta-analysis of biological control experiments

This project is closed.

We are seeking one or more undergraduate collaborators to collect data from published literature on species invasions and biological control efforts. Many ecology students will be familiar with the introduction of opuntia cactus into Australia and subsequent control by the cactus moth. There are many many other examples where species have been introduced to control invasive pests. We would like to build a database recording details of these experiments as reported in the literature.

Qualifications

Ability to carefully record data from the literature into an Excel spreadsheet. Needs to be dedicated and reliable. Ideal qualifications would include having taken one or more courses in entomology. General enthusiasm for ecology and evolutionary biology.

Project Timeline

Starting spring 2019 through fall 2020.

Duties

Conduct literature searches and record relevant data. Regularly attend meetings and participate in lab discussions.

Typical Time Commitment
5 hours per week
Desired Length of Commitment
2 semesters
