Part-Time Lab Technician (Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Student) in Behavioral Neuroscience lab

A part-time position is available for an undergraduate student majoring in electrical or mechanical engineering to assist in a behavioral neuroscience lab. The candidate will be responsible for repairing and maintaining specialized hardware and equipment used in research experiments. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative research environment at the intersection of engineering and neuroscience.

Qualifications
  • Must be an undergraduate student majoring in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with electronics, soldering, circuit design, or mechanical systems is strongly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Interest in neuroscience or behavioral research is a plus but not required.
Project Timeline

Duties
  • Diagnose and repair electronic and mechanical components of research hardware, including behavioral testing equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting for lab devices to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Collaborate with researchers to develop or modify equipment to meet experimental needs.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, modifications, and maintenance schedules.
  • Assist with the setup and calibration of hardware for ongoing experiments.
Typical Time Commitment
Part-time hours with a flexible schedule to accommodate academic commitments.
Desired Length of Commitment
at least 1 semester
