The cloud computing revolution opens the possibility for scientific researchers to obtain large amounts of computing power only when they require it, leaving maintenance and upgrades to centralized facilities. We would like to set up a testbed for such a cloud cluster for high energy physics applications using the Texas Advanced Computing Center.
You should be familiar with using and administering Linux systems. Experience with parallel computing would be helpful but not required.
The position is available immediately. The expectation is that the core component of this project will largely be complete by the end of the 2012-13 school year. There is a possibility of a high energy physics project component as well.
