PODER: Promoting Obesity prevention among children with Developmental disabilities and families through Engaged Research

We are launching a study to characterize health behaviors and social determinants of health for Latinx children with developmental disabilities (DD) and their caregivers.

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish: fluency in speaking, reading and writing Spanish
• Ability to dedicate 10 hours a week to the project
• Preference for students who can work on the project beyond Spring 2020
• Interest in gaining research experience
• Interest in learning more about developmental disabilities and health

Project Timeline

April 1 2020 through September 2022

Duties

• Learn to instruct parents and children on using physical activity devices
• Conduct interviews with parents and children in their preferred language
• Help to enter data according to the research protocol
