Primate Endocrinology Lab

This project is ongoing.

Dr. Sandel is seeking students interested in volunteering as a research assistant with the Primate Ethology and Endocrinology (PEE) lab in the Department of Anthropology. We study primate behavior and physiology, with questions that focus on adolescence and social bonds in chimpanzees.

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

    • Attention to detail
    • Proactive and self-motivated
    • Excited to work independently and in a team
    • Prior experience working in a "wet lab" is a plus 
    Project Timeline

    January to May 2023

    Duties

    Main tasks/goals:

    • Researching and comparing different lab equipment
    • Research enzyme immuno-assay methods vs. LC-MS methods for measuring steroid hormones
    • Help Graduate Research Assistant with purchasing lab equipment and supplies
    • Help team members stay on task with deadlines
    • There may be opportunities to learn and carry out physiology assays
    • There will be opportunities to get involved in ongoing research projects
