Project SEED

This project is ongoing.

Dr. Su Yeong Kim, a faculty member in the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences, College of Natural Sciences, is conducting a research study on Mexican American children and their families. Our goal is to understand how children who translate for their parents on a regular basis are impacted as far as their development socially, emotionally, and educationally. 

Qualifications

Written and Verbal fluency in Spanish desired but not required.

Duties

Three different RA roles to choose from:

English-speaking Field RAs, Spanish-speaking Field RAs, and English-speaking Office RAs

  • You can interview Spanish-speaking families (parents and middle school students)
  • You can do lab work in our office in UT campus
  • You can do admin work (Office RA) and help behind-the-scenes (AND EVEN WORK FROM HOME)
  • You can make presentations on UT campus to recruit future RAs
  • You can make phone calls to the families on weeknights
  • You can babysit younger children at the families homes (Field RA)
  • You can be a school coordinator
