Rheological Properties of Hair Beds Immersed in Fluid

This project is closed. No applications are allowed.

Fluid-immersed hair beds are a rich system to study owing to the complex coupling of the hair to the fluid, as well as the nonlinearity found in the governing equations. Intestinal microvilli, endothelial glycocalyx are examples of hair beds found in our body. They are implicated in nutrient transport, mechanosensing, and flow regulation. Despite their abundance, much is not known about the time- dependent behavior of such systems.

Help further our knowledge by performing experiments and fabricating hair beds.

I'M INTERESTED IN THIS PROJECT. WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?

The Office of Undergraduate Research recommends that you attend an info session or advising before contacting faculty members or project contacts about research opportunities. We'll cover the steps to get involved, tips for contacting faculty, funding possibilities, and options for course credit. Once you have attended an Office of Undergraduate Research info session or spoken to an advisor, you can use the "Who to contact" details for this project to get in touch with the project leader and express your interest in getting involved.
