Volunteer Clinical Assistant

This project is ongoing. Applications are due by July 18, 2025.

The UT-Austin Psychology Department's training clinic is seeking volunteers for the 2025-2026 academic year interested in assisting with patient recruitment and other clinic admin duties.

Clinic Description: The Psychology Department’s training clinic serves as a training center for the Psychology Department's Clinical Psychology PhD students. The clinic provides high-quality treatments for patients while providing high-quality training for graduate students as they learn evidence-based psychological treatments and clinical assessments. The clinic offers low-cost assessment and therapy services (including individual therapy, group therapy, and family/couples therapy) to the Austin community. All clinical services are provided by clinicians-in-training under the supervision of licensed clinical psychologists with expertise in the delivery of evidence-based treatments and/or clinical assessments. The clinic engages in regular patient-reported outcome tracking as part of an evidence-based approach to treatment and assessment as well as a method to assess the clinic's outcomes and assess quality improvement efforts.

Responsibilities: The clinical assistants will work with the training clinic director, administrative assistant, and clinicians to aid in the administrative processes associated with patient services. Responsibilities will primarily include communicating with individuals interested in the clinic's services via phone to describe the clinic's services, assisting with an initial assessment of their mental health concerns to help determine if the clinic's services will meet their needs, and providing community referrals. Responsibilities will also include assisting with patient scheduling and assisting with group therapy sessions. Due to the training involved, a two-semester commitment is required. Weekly commitment is approximately 8-10 hours per week with flexible scheduling options M-F between 8am-6pm, in-person at the clinic in the psychology department. This is an unpaid, volunteer position.

If you are interested in the position, please apply using the link below. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the deadline listed.
