Dr. Wright's research interests are centered on investigating relationships among environmental exposures, the microbiome, and genomic factors to determine how they contribute to health outcomes in human populations.
I have previously worked with students in clinical, didactic, and laboratory settings. I like working individually with students to learn about what their goals are and what skills/abilities they would like to develop. Then we develop a plan to meet those goals. When we have mutually agreed upon goals, the student and lab both win. In addition to working on projects, students that make significant contributions will also work with the the team on abstracts for conference posters and presentations, as well as manuscripts to disseminate our work. We have recently had 3 of our undergraduate students graduate and will be accepting new students for Fall 2021.
We will be looking for students to assist with:
1) Manage business aspects of the lab (e.g., prepare agenda and take notes during lab meetings, order and track supplies, website updates and management)
2) Assist with lab processing of clinical samples (e.g., processing stool samples, DNA extraction)
3) Assist in getting new projects set up and running.
