Research Interests
I study ancient and historic agricultural features, such as terraces and irrigation canals, principally in arid northern Mexico and the American Southwest. As a geographer, I focus on construction technologies relevant to environmental conditions, and the evolution or development of agricultural landscapes. My current project is an investigation of the construction of aqueduct bridges built in Mexico during the 16th century. The goal is to understand the hybridization of Spanish architecture with Aztec building techniques.
