Public Transit Operators in Metropolitan Transportation Decisionmaking

This project is ongoing.

The Phase II study builds on my Phase I published research ( https://doi.org/10.1016/j.tranpol.2021.09.011 ) documenting how public transit agencies are represented in consequential decisionmaking about regional transportation innvestments.

This second phase of the projects asks how the quality of transit representation (e.g. direct voting seat; indirect representation via city/county official) on regional decisionmaking boards impacts the funding resources made available to the public transit agency.

I am testing the hypothesis that transit agencies that have more direct representation on these regional funding boards will get more resources, improving the prospects for better transit systems and service.
