The Role of Race in Prosocial Modeling

Professor Marlone Henderson is seeking research assistants (RAs) to join his lab this semester. The project topic centers on how people evaluate and react to others who help racial ingroup or outgroup members. Participants will learn about others' helping behavior via various formats (e.g., news stories, tiktok videos, tweets)

Qualifications

No research experience required.  Assistants must be comfortable approaching strangers. 

Project Timeline

Starting asap and running through Summer 2023. 

Duties

RAs will be expected to approach people on campus and in the Austin community (e.g., city parks, outside of gyms, outside of coffee shops) in pairs and ask participants to complete a survey on the phone. RAs will also help create materials that will be used in the study (e.g., fake tiktok videos depicting helping situations). 

Typical Time Commitment
Expected time commitment for RAs will be 15 hours per week (determined by the RA)
