Research Interests
We applied experimental and computational approaches to investigate the factors contributing to the evolution of bacterial genomes and microbial communities.
Some on the projects that are currently underway in the laboratory investigate:
1. Causes and consequences of microbial community diversity residing in great ape
2. The origins of new genes and functional complexity
3. Microbial dark matter, and defining species boundaries in bacteria and viruses
4. Molecular evolution of microbial genes, genomes and communities
