The IC² Institute is an interdisciplinary research unit of The University of Texas at Austin founded in 1977 by George Kozmetsky to explore the drivers of economic development and shared prosperity. Under current executive director S. Craig Watkins, the Institute is engaging in qualitative and quantitative research that will advance the creation of a well-being economy and contribute to overall health and well-being, with a particular focus on digital health care, artificial intelligence (AI) and underserved populations.
Legacy Programs: The theories developed at IC² have been tested in in the real world through several world-recognized programs: the Austin Technology Incubator, one of the world's most prominent business incubators, the Bureau of Business Research, to provide Texas leaders with research data to strengthen the state’s economy, and the Global Commercialization Group, to catalyze emerging knowledge-based economies throughout the world.
